Through advanced technological agricultural practices, Westfalia grow and source delicious avocados of excellence and quality which we supply to markets all over the world. Practicing our commitment to sustainability and conservation, Westfalia’s agribusiness was the first company in Africa to gain GlobalGAP and LEAF marque (Linking Environment and Farming) accreditations. This is the result of the vision of our founder Dr Merensky, our commitment to his beliefs and our internationally renowned and world leading approach in avocado production. We are one of the largest growers and suppliers of avocados in the world.

All our avocados are monitored throughout all of our processes to ensure a supreme quality of the final product. Our stringent control checks from the nursery and orchards to our pack house and distribution network support the Westfalia promise of quality. What’s more, Westfalia Technological Services is a leading edge body taking avocado operations to an innovative new dimension.

Practicing our commitment to quality, all our fruit is carefully tested for maturity before being harvested. When mature, avocados are hand picked from the trees in our and our partners’ orchards around the world.

We have conventional as well as organic orchards which are situated mainly in the Modjadjiskloof area in the Limpopo Province and in Howick in the Kwazulu-Natal province. The Limpopo Province is in the north of South Africa on the Drakensberg escarpment while the Kwazulu-Natal Province is situated in the south east of the country on the Indian Ocean coast line.

  Westfalia manages about 1500ha of avocado orchards in Southern Africa, to produce some 5,000,000 cartons of avocados every year. We grow Hass, Fuerte, Ryan, Pinkerton and other varieties.
